Kristen Sherman
I’ve been described as creative, a mentor, and a utility player.
For 15+ years I have collaborated with staff and volunteers, taking big picture thinking to detailed road maps.
Through my work, I have led people toward greater generosity through philanthropy, communications, finance, operations and administration for a variety of nonprofit organizations in Boston and NYC.
My backstory. I grew up with an abundance of family in a working class town on the South Shore of Boston. My first fundraising experience was at age 7 when my mom made me go door-to-door asking neighbors for change in support of the American Heart Association.
I attended UMass Amherst for Art History (or Aht-tristry, my parents would say with a mix of confusion and pride). Twenty years later, I went to evening school for an MBA.
I am an arts-omnivore, reader, knitter, and dog person, and lifelong Celtics fan.
All of these experiences have shaped how I think about work, play, and money - practical and unsentimental.
